Jewish Genetic Screening Day

Jewish Genetic Screening Day – Sunday, May 18th

10:00am – 4:00pm
Everyone wants to proactively care for their own health as well as that of their family. Did you know that
you can care for your future children’s health today? Genetic screening is your way to protect the
health of your child. Genetic diseases like Tay Sachs, Cystic Fibrosis, Fragile X, and Sickle Cell are more
common than you think. In fact, 1 in 25 individuals carries a genetic mutation for Cystic Fibrosis.
Genetic testing makes it possible for us to anticipate and avoid passing on such genetic mutations and is
recommended to anyone who is considering conception now or in the future.
New York Fertility Services is teaming up with Good Start Genetics to offer an open genetic testing day
to individuals of reproductive age. We will be offering comprehensive mutation screening for the most
prevalent and serious disorders including those most common to your ethnic background. All costs not
covered by your insurance plan will be paid for by a private donor. Please join us for this very special
opportunity to proactively care for your and your future family’s health!
Dr. Ilana Ressler, Reproductive Endocrinologist, will be offering free mini consultations for anyone
interested in learning about fertility treatments and their options.
Good Start Genetics will have a genetic counselor available to answer any specific questions about
genetic testing or what results of testing can mean.
A free telephone consultation with a Good Starts Genetics Counselor to discuss your results will be
scheduled for everyone tested on May 18th. Results are typically available in two – three weeks.
