15 things you can do to support Israel now! #rootsownit

Aching for our troops and itching to help but camouflage just isn’t your color?

Here’s a list of ways how you can make a difference!

When the media unjustly turns against Israel, and political protests become violent mobs world wide, there is no greater act of solidarity than us standing together shoulder to shoulder, helping one another, with strength and hope for the future. Although there is a vast ocean that separates us from the people in Israel, there is still plenty that we can do to show our support and contribute to the effort.

Israeli soldiers are currently fighting a war against terror in Gaza. Our goal is to let the IDF and the Israeli people know that we support them, even from miles away. This is what it means to be one nation with one heart.  There is a lot going on in Israel and Roots has put together a list of how you can get involved. Here is your chance to advocate for Israel.

A dollar can go a long way!

1. Yehuda’s Mission Fund:

What it is? Yehuda Tatelbaum, a resident of Ma’ale Adumim (a thriving community in the West Bank), is an old friend of ours. He is headed to the IDF outpost on the border with Gaza in order to deliver various goods and basic supplies at the request of the soldiers on the base. Some of the requested items are socks, wipes, hats, underwear, deodorant, soap and much more.

Why it rocks? Every penny collected will go directly to helping the soldiers. Plus, as Yehuda will be buying the items in local grocery stores in Israel’s heavily battered southern region, the $ will go to benefit local retailers, that have been seriously impacted by the loss of business due to war. Double the impact for each dollar spend!

How to get involved? Keeping it simple: donations can be send via PayPal to Yehuda@tatelbaum.com

2. Pizza Fund:

Why it rocks? One word: PIZZZZZA!!!

3. The Tidy Whities Fund:

What it is?What our soldiers need most!

Why it rocks?Because it’s very hot down on the Gaza border… Because health and hygiene matter to our fighters – especially in war. And because – above all – this is what they’re asking for! This is what our soldiers need.

4. Vest’s for IDF Fund:

What it is?Help sponsor a bullet proof vest for our front liners and first responders (the shortage is explained in the link below).

Why it rocks? Some of the brave soldiers of the IDF are lacking proper or optimal safety equipment. Sadly, the casualties are far too high already, and we want to do all that we can to provide protection that could avoid further loss of life! Time to inVest in our soldiers (yep. dorky puns is how we do it!).

More info? Each vest costs approximately $1,534.00, and they are needed immediately. Please contribute generously.

5. 97th Battalion Fund:

What it is?The 97th Battalion is known for it’s speciality in urban warfare and counter terrorism. This unit has been working non-stop to locate and arrest terrorists, quell violent riots, and ensure the safety of the Jewish people in the surrounding neighborhoods.

Why it rocks? You will be helping with one of the newest battalions in the army!

6. Direct-to-Soldiers Fund:

What it is?Our very own Ross Den was in the IDF for the past 12 years, both in active and reserve duty.  Wanting to help his friends on the frontlines in Gaza, he started a collection to purchase much needed gear for the soldiers.

Added bonus: COJECO will match every $1 raised (thanks, guys!).

Why it rocks? The money you donate will go directly to soldiers on front lines. All of it.

How to get involved?  Every little bit counts!  PayPal donations to: securityintel@gmail.com

7. Thank Israel Soldiers Fund:

What it is?What says thanks better than a hand assembled package containing treats, basic goods and a handwritten note?

Why it rocks? These guys know people in very high places. And have the inside hookup to a whole bunch of bases. Plus they have been doing good things for IDF for quite sometime. We trust them to do good things with our money, and you can too.

More info? Show a soldier your love and support by sending a care package that includes snacks and items such as a t-shirt, wipes and mosquito repellent.  Be sure to include your letter of gratitude for their service.

A letter from a soldier in Gaza:

Today our hearts are pounding in fear. Who of us will die? And who will return safely?

We are your messengers in fighting. We are fighting so you can live peacefully with your children. So you can stay alive. We are your protection. Will you be ours? We are going to this dangerous mission knowing some of us will not come back, but will rise to their next position in a storm to heaven, as Eliyahu the Navi did.

We are going with devotion and dedication.

We are asking you to be our protection with your prayers. Protect us by going above and beyond yourselves through Ruchniyus and good deeds.

Pray for us. Pray that you won’t see another mother burying her son. Pray that you won’t see our wives as widows raise our children in tears. Pray that our children will grow up knowing who their fathers are. Pray that we will eliminate the terrorists who aim to destroy us, and that we will not injure innocent women and children.

Please, we are begging you, as you are reading this, don’t just go on to the next thing you are doing. Say a chapter of Tehillim. Wake up David HaMelech to ask Hashem for full Geulah and peace for the all world. Take upon yourselves another good deed. And please pass this on. I’m certain that your prayer will make a difference.

Remember, we are in it together. We are on the front lines carrying the weapons and you are fighting along with us in your prayers. Each word of your prayer gives us strength, protection and success!!
