Paula Abdul: “I Am Committed To Keep The Sabbath”
How’s this for support? Celebrity and former American Idol judge Paula Abdul has promised to join Jews all around the world in keeping shabbos on the 24th and 25th of October.
The Shabbos Project is a unique, international grassroots Jewish identity movement that unites all Jews to keep one full Shabbat together. The idea originated last year right here in South Africa, where the majority of the country’s diverse Jewish community joined together to observe a single Shabbat, most for the first time in their lives.
The International Shabbos Project will take place on the Shabbat of 24/25 October 2014 in more than 212 cities and 33 countries around the globe. By experiencing the magic of Shabbat just once, we can rejuvenate family and community life, restore Jewish pride and identity, and build Jewish unity across the world!
I think this is such a great cause for Jews to come together and show their solidarity. It’s obvious that many Jews, myself included, don’t keep shabbos but with the help of The Shabbos Project, we can all come together for one week and feel the power that Shabbos brings. Since it’s only one week, it’s super achievable so sign up and keep shabbos!
